We are seeking a motivated Personal Injury Lawyer (3–5 PQE) to join our growing NSW personal injury team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a diverse caseload, including workers compensation, work injury damages, public liability and motor vehicle accident matters, while working closely with experienced practitioners and Partners on high-quality matters.
Role Overview
You will independently manage a portfolio of personal injury matters across common law and statutory schemes in NSW. The role offers a balance of autonomy and support, with exposure to complex matters and opportunities to contribute to strategic case development and client
outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage a portfolio of personal injury matters (including workers compensation, work injury damages, public liability and motor vehicle accident claims)
- Conduct liability and quantum assessments and develop effective claim strategies
- Obtain instructions and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication
- Request and review medical and other evidentiary records; prepare chronologies and case summaries
- Obtain and critically assess expert medical and liability evidence
- Prepare briefs to counsel and documentation for hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
- Manage matters through pre-litigation and litigation processes in accordance with
NSW legislative frameworks
- Ensure compliance with limitation periods, statutory obligations, and procedural requirements
- Draft and review legal correspondence, pleadings, and settlement documentation
- Negotiate settlements with insurers and opposing representatives
- Liaise with counsel, medical practitioners, experts, and other stakeholders
- Maintain high-quality file management and documentation standards
- Provide guidance and direction to paralegal and administrative support staff as required
- Contribute to precedent development, workflow improvements, and business development initiatives
Key Requirements
- 3–5 years’ post-admission experience in personal injury
- Demonstrate ability to autonomously manage a substantial file load
- Strong working knowledge of NSW personal injury legislation and processes (including workers compensation, work injury damages, public liability and motor vehicle accident matter)
- Experience preparing matters for mediation, settlement negotiations, and court proceedings
- Litigation and, ideally, advocacy experience
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with clients, counsel, and expert witnesses
- Excellent organisational, time-management, and communication skills
- Strong client service mindset with empathy and attention to detail
- Critical thinking skills, particularly in evaluating expert evidence
Desirable
