Job Overview

A Sales Engineer serves as the vital link between technical expertise and customer needs, particularly in promoting Silvent products and solutions. Leveraging strong engineering knowledge, the Sales Engineer understands Silvent’s advanced compressed air technology to identify client requirements and propose solutions that are both technically sound and commercially viable. The role involves promoting, selling, and supporting Silvent products and services, while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and fostering long-term business relationships. The Sales Engineer works closely with the engineering, production, and service teams to ensure the successful delivery of customised Silvent solutions that meet specific client specifications.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Technical Sales & Consultation

  • Identify and understand customer needs, technical specifications, and application challenges related to compressed air safety, noise reduction, and blow-off applications using Silvent products.
  • Recommend and propose suitable Silvent nozzles, air knives, air guns, and customised compressed air solutions based on engineering analysis and application requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution proposals highlighting the performance, safety, and energy-efficiency benefits of Silvent products.
  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for Silvent solutions, including application assessment, product selection, installation guidance, and performance optimisation.

2. Business Development & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients by promoting Silvent compressed air solutions as value-added improvements to their operations.
  • Identify and develop new markets, business opportunities, and customer segments for Silvent products across relevant industries.
  • Manage the sales pipeline for Silvent solutions, including preparing quotations, conducting technical-commercial discussions, and negotiating contracts or pricing terms.
  • Collaborate with distributors, agents, or channel partners to expand market reach and ensure effective promotion and support of Silvent products.

3. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and submit accurate sales forecasts, progress reports, and market intelligence summaries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of customer interactions, quotations, and orders within the Salesforce system.
  • Work closely with the Shared Services team as required, including Finance for purchase orders, invoicing, and billing matters; HR for human resource–related matters; and Marketing for promotional support and campaign coordination.
  • Collaborate with the Technical and Engineering teams to obtain technical support, product clarification, application validation, and solution optimisation when required.
  • Participate in trade shows, technical seminars, and marketing events to support the promotion of the company’s offerings, where applicable.
  • Attend monthly update meetings at the Company Headquarters in Taipan Subang to provide sales updates, discuss progress, and align on business objectives.

4. Market & Product Knowledge

  • Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and competitor offerings.
  • Provide feedback to the product development team regarding customer needs and market trends.

Job Competencies

A. Technical Competencies

  • Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, automation, or process engineering principles, with the ability to apply these fundamentals to compressed air systems, blow-off applications, noise reduction, and industrial safety solutions, particularly relating to Silvent products.
  • Product Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Silvent compressed air nozzles, air knives, air guns, and air optimisation solutions, including their performance characteristics, safety standards, energy-saving benefits, and industrial applications.
  • Solution Selling: Ability to translate customer operational challenges into tailored Silvent solutions, aligning product features such as airflow efficiency, noise reduction, safety compliance, and energy savings with specific customer requirements.
  • Technical Documentation: Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings, product datasheets, airflow/noise performance charts, specifications, and application schematics relevant to Silvent products and compressed air systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce), Microsoft Office Suite, and familiar with basic engineering or CAD software for layout planning or application visualisation, which is an added advantage when supporting Silvent solution proposals.

  • Market Analysis: Ability to identify market trends, opportunities, and potential customers.

Job Requirements (Optional Section)

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, or related Engineering field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in technical sales or application engineering.
  • Experience in relevant industries (e.g., automation, manufacturing equipment or electrical systems).
  • Strong technical acumen combined with commercial understanding.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, site visits, and project discussions.
  • Good command of English (and local language / dialects if applicable).
