About the position… 

The Reintegration Specialist is based at the Cavan workplace and works with men transitioning from the prison system back into the community. This includes providing case management informed by a comprehensive assessment (including a safety and risk assessment). Identified individual needs inform a tailored case plan incorporating short- and long-term goals. The case plan also outlines roles, responsibilities and timelines for achieving agreed outcomes.

The Reintegration Specialist undertakes assessment and case planning; provides referrals to appropriate in-house and external services; advocates on behalf of participants; supports goal setting; and assists with prioritising tasks in line with the service model.

The Reintegration Specialist is expected to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and external services, departments, agencies and service providers, including the Department for Correctional Services, Workskil, SA Housing Trust, and other non-government and government organisations.

Assist participants to identify their individual needs through the provision of a comprehensive intake and assessment process and work with other contracted supports to prioritise.

We offer a part-time vacancy (0.8 FTE) on fixed-term contract until October 2026.

About you…

The successful applicant will possess skills, experience, and knowledge in working with Aboriginal people to address the needs of people who are experiencing high levels of need and disadvantage.

The applicant will operate within a therapeutic, trauma-informed framework. The applicant would have demonstrated knowledge of case management and working with Aboriginal families and a strong understanding of the Criminal Justice System.

Job requirements…

  • You must hold a current South Australian Driver’s License or a license which permits you to drive in South Australia.
  • Successful candidates will be required to clear and maintain current probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check (Police Clearance) and Working with Children Check (applicants need to hold a current WWCC to apply). 
  • Knowledge in the Criminal Justice System and Work Health and Safety Principles.

Desirable:

Educational/Vocational Qualifications

  • ·Certificate IV in Community services or Higher Qualification

Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills

  • Conflict Resolution management skills.
  • Counselling Skills

 Experience

  • Working with people from a range of cultures and social backgrounds.
  • Experience in assessing needs and risks of disadvantaged people, especially ex-offenders.

 Knowledge

  • A basic understanding in Restorative Justice Principles.
  • Time management and prioritising tasks
  • Integration and social inclusion principles
