Community Link Worker

Newcastle upon Tyne, NorthEast NE1, United Kingdom • Full-time

Description

Closing date: 27th February 2026 at 12pm

Salary: £24,672.38 per year

Interviews: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to visit our hub either on the 5th, 6th, 9th or 10th of March. Interviews will be held on the 12th and 13th of March.

We’re on the lookout for a full time Community Link Worker to join our friendly and enthusiastic team in Newcastle (East). This is a temporary position until the end November 2026 with a possibility of extension should we secure a further contract following a tender process.

We are part of diverse and inclusive local communities and represent them in our work.

What you’ll do:

You’ll work with older people to build local connections and friendships. You’ll make sure that the people you work with are looking after themselves and that they have a life that is bigger than social care support.

  • For David, this meant helping him to set up WhatsApp on his phone so that he can connect with family who live away.
  • For Carol, it was about setting alarms so that she remembered to take her tablets. Now she feels less anxious she’s getting out and about and meeting other Members.

You’ll feel inspired and help inspire people. You’ll encourage them to try new things and have new experiences. You’ll reassure but you won’t take over. Every Member you support is unique, and every day will be different.

Your role will be out and about. You’ll facilitate groups in community venues

What you won’t be expected to do:

We support people with a lot of different things to do with leading an ordinary life, but we don’t do things like bathing people or taking them to the toilet. This is sometimes called personal care. If people need personal care, we will work with other local support providers to make sure they get what they need.

Your benefits:

  • Generous annual leave allowance of 30 days per year plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time team members).
  • Excellent training programme to reach your potential – even if that means you move on!
  • Flexible working – we are all about supporting people to live the life they want to lead and that includes our teams.
  • Pension Scheme with Life assurance of two year’s salary.
  • Employee Assistance Programme – face to face counselling and a range of advice.
  • We pay for your DBS (previously CRB) and Online Update

Your diverse and inclusive workplace:

Our vision is for a welcoming world that celebrates the skills and talents of everybody.
