We’re seeking a dedicated Sobering Up Shelter Manager to lead a vital frontline service in Katherine, NT. In this dynamic and rewarding role, you’ll manage a culturally safe, trauma-informed shelter supporting individuals affected by alcohol intoxication. Position Summary:

The Sobering Up Shelter (SUS) Manager is responsible for the effective management, operation, and continuous improvement of the Sobering Up Shelter program in accordance with NT Government Guidelines. The role ensures the provision of a culturally safe, client-centred service focused on harm minimisation for intoxicated individuals, while ensuring adherence to Kalano’s policies and procedures, service funding agreements, and legal obligations.

Working Hours

  • Monday: 08:00am – 4:30pm
  • Tuesday – Friday: 3:00pm – 11:30pm | 11:30pm – 08:00am
  • Must be available to work both shifts across an even rotating roster.

Working Conditions

  • Must be available for on-call duties scheduled on a rotating roster and flexible shift coverage as required
  • Ability to respond to critical incidents including after hours
  • Active participation in daily operations including afternoon and night shifts and physical tasks (e.g. cleaning, lifting)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend for extended periods and participating in physical activities.
  • May be required to work outside of regular operational hours for special meetings, events or activities.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV or higher in AOD, Community Services, Social Work, or related field

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role in the AOD or community services sector
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex behaviours with empathy and professionalism
  • Understanding of the cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work empathetically with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong administrative skills, including use of various IT equipment, devices and software systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Remuneration package:

Employment Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $95,504.57 per annum (pro-rata)

Plus applicable shift penalties etc

Entitlements/Benefits:

6 Weeks Annual Leave

2 Weeks Sick Leave

2 Weeks Ancillary Leave

1 RDO per Month

Access to pre-tax salary packaging

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week – 7.5 hours per day
