ROLE SUMMARY
The MIP Manager will establish and implement a structured Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) framework to guide the development, evaluation, and optimisation of JMC Academy’s program portfolio. This role will provide independent, data-driven assessments of new and existing offerings, integrating market insights, product health checks, and strategic fit analysis. The manager will collaborate with academic and executive teams to shape discipline roadmaps, ensure market relevance, and embed go-to-market strategies from concept through to launch. This position plays a critical role in aligning educational offerings with institutional goals, audience needs, and long-term sustainability.
The Market Intelligence & Propositions Manager is responsible for delivering actionable insights to support student recruitment, program development, and institutional strategy. The role combines market research, competitive analysis, and proposition development to ensure JMC Academy remains relevant, distinctive, and responsive to evolving student and industry needs.
This role can be based at any of our campuses in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Market Research & Trend Analysis
- Lead primary and secondary research projects to understand trends in student behaviour, competitor activity, employment markets, and the broader higher education and creative industries landscape.
- Monitor key external data sources (e.g. TEQSA, QILT, job market data, international trends) to identify opportunities and risks.
- Maintain up-to-date profiles of competitor offerings and pricing structures across domestic and international markets.
Customer and Audience Insight
- Develop audience segmentation frameworks to support marketing and product development.
- Conduct surveys, focus groups, and interviews with prospective and current students to understand motivations, barriers, and brand perceptions.
- Translate audience insights into actionable recommendations across the student journey, including marketing and program design.
Proposition & Portfolio Development
- Support development and refinement of program value propositions in collaboration with Academic and Marketing teams.
- Contribute to new product or campus feasibility studies using market demand, competitor analysis, and pricing intelligence.
- Identify whitespace opportunities for course, campus or channel expansion.
Insight Communication & Influence
- Produce clear, compelling insight reports and dashboards to inform Executive and Marketing decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders (e.g. Academic, Marketing, Student Services) to ensure insights are integrated into planning and delivery.
- Support the development of strategy and business cases with robust data and insights.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Establish best-practice research and insight frameworks for JMC.
- Stay abreast of innovation in market research, analytics, and student decision-making frameworks.
- Champion a student-first, evidence-led approach across the organisation.
KEY ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in market research, strategy, or insight roles with a demonstrated ability to translate research into actionable strategy.
- Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
- Experience in higher education or creative industries, or similar demand-driven sector.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesise data from multiple sources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive-level reports and presentations.
- Project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience with survey tools, Tableau/Power BI, or statistical software (e.g. SPSS, R).
- Knowledge of TEQSA, QILT, or international education trends.
- Experience in developing go-to-market strategies or academic propositions.
