Part-time opportunity to join our highly respected, multidisciplinary Women’s Health Clinic in Melbourne CBD, supporting our dedicated and passionate clinicians and delivering high-quality women’s health care.

About the role:

The Practice Nurse supports the day-to-day delivery of high-quality clinical services, and reports to the Nurse Coordinator:

  • Assist with medical procedures including IUD insertions, Colposcopy and biopsies, and provide post procedure support and assistance to patients as required
  • Phone consultations with patients to provide support and education relevant to the patient’s needs in the specialised area of women’s health. This includes a wide range of medical concerns and questions.
  • Communication of pathology and other test results to patients including follow ups as required
  • Coordinating patient reminders and recalls as directed by clinicians
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders such as pathology groups, radiology and other medical providers
  • Sterilization, Infection Control, OH&S compliance completed within appropriate timeframes and in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and Legislation
  • Supporting the nursing team and multi-disciplinary team in clinic to meet varying demands as required.
  • Participate in compliance with all Risk Management and Quality Control practices
  • Ensure adherence to personal scope of practice as a Registered Nurse

About You

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified RN Div 1 with current registration with APHRA, with relevant experience in Practice Nursing and knowledge of sterilisation techniques
  • Passionate about women’s health
  • Excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong commitment to patient care
  • Good knowledge of women’s health issues and organisations supporting women’s health in Australia
  • Well-developed computer skills including MS Office Suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Desirable Criteria

  • Study and/or experience in the specialised area of women’s health, health promotion principles and health behaviour.
  • Having completed the free online Jean Hailes courses for Nurses & Midwives.
  • Certified Nurse Cervical Screening Provider
  • Experience in Best Practice and HotDoc, or equivalent clinic management software advantageous Well-developed computer skills including MS Office Suite
