In operation since 1987, every Jardan piece is researched, designed, crafted and assembled at our Production site in Melbourne, retaining skills whilst focusing on a premium made to order process bound by sustainability and quality.
What we are looking for:
Join our Engineering team as a Research and Development Engineer, reporting to the Head of Engineering. Based at our Scoresby HQ, you’ll develop timber and upholstery prototypes and work
closely with R&D, Design and Production to bring new furniture concepts to life.
This hands-on role focuses on translating design into efficient, manufacturable products, optimising quality, cost and production performance.
What the role entails:
- Partner with R&D and Design to develop concepts and prepare production-ready documentation
- Translate designs into high-quality, manufacturable products using DFM principles
- Create 3D models, drawings, CNC files and production documentation
- Improve product construction, safety, quality and manufacturing efficiency
- Develop SOPs, BOMs (Epicor) and support design changes and pricing
- Assist with timber and upholstered product development, including CNC programming
- Apply Lean principles to reduce waste and optimise processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive product improvements and project outcomes
We are looking for someone who has:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline, with exposure to hands-on manufacturing or factory environments
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar 3D CAD software, with strong overall computer literacy
- Experience in Gerber Accumark are beneficial but not essential
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical and production drawings, with excellent attention to detail
- Practical experience using hand tools and performing basic assembly work; knowledge of furniture construction is advantageous
- Strong organisational, time management, and communication skills, with the ability to meet deadlines reliably
- A positive, reliable team player who is punctual, dependable, and able to build strong working relationships
