Description

Are you a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary looking for your next career move? Or an experienced administration professional ready for a new challenge?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join our Disputes Practice. This diverse role provides key support to a team of legal professionals, ensuring they are equipped to perform at their best. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organised, and able to manage multiple tasks while prioritising competing demands in a busy practice environment. Experience in a similar role is preferred. This is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities include:    

  • General administration including word processing, document creation, filing, maintaining the document management system, and organising couriers.
  • Matter-related processing including opening and closing matters, preparing conflict checks, client billing, conducting data and system searches, creating engagement letters and trust statements, and managing document lodgement.
  • Practice support including diary management, general practice administration, and scheduling appointments.
  • Client services including answering client phone calls, managing events, assisting with client portals, preparing reports, and supporting new client onboarding.

We are committed to providing ongoing training and support for our Legal Assistants, both at a team and firm level. We are looking for someone who adapts well to change, is energetic and eager to learn, and is committed to delivering high-quality work and service to our lawyers and clients.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, with a strong level of initiative and work ethic.
  • Ability to prioritise work in a busy practice and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Professional client and customer service skills and experience.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Previous experience in a legal or professional services environment would be advantageous.
