1. PURPOSE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Category Buyer the Buyer will help to manage the Home product range in line with business, customer and market expectations and contributes to the coordination and management of the company’s Buying Process.
Using business analytics and market research to drive strategic decision making, maximise revenue and drive profitability of their category, the Buyer helps to set the seasonal range plan and product selection strategy for their brand. Establishing and managing strong strategic relationships with suppliers to deliver against these strategies.
2. KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Buy and develop amazing product
• Take ownership and accountability of your category portfolio.
• Analyse and review sales, stock, and profitability of all products.
• Identify gaps and opportunities to source or develop new product.
• Review cross section of market including but not limited to competitors, trade fairs, trends, commercial/hospitality, and interior design.
• Travel domestic and internationally to trade fairs, retailers, customers, and factories as required.
• Identify your consumer and direct your brands to meet their needs.
• Manage end to end factory relationships including negotiation, product design, and range selection.
• Autonomously manage workload and critical path tracking to ensure deadlines are met.
• Be part of and add to an inclusive team.
• Develop cross functional relationships across the business.
• Maintain clear documentation on range review, sourcing, and product development.
3. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
• Previous experience within a merchandise team
- Related Categories highly regarded.
- Buyer developer experience including overseas product development highly regarded.
- Merchandise Planning and/or strategy background considered.
• Education bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline highly regarded.
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Strong computer literacy specifically within the Microsoft office suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop a cross-functional team.
• Ability to self-manage workload and drive critical path.
• Leadership and mentoring experience highly regarded.
