IOR is hiring a Refinery Operator to join our team in Eromanga on a 3‑weeks‑on, 3‑weeks‑off roster. If you’re looking for meaningful hands‑on work, long stretches of uninterrupted time off, and the chance to support one of Australia’s most remote fuel operations, this role offers the balance and challenge you’re after.

About the role

The purpose of the Refinery Operator role is to ensure the efficient, safe and uninterrupted conduct of the Company’s refinery activities as directed by the Refinery Supervisor Oversee and manage refinery operations. Based in our small camp at Eromanga, on a 3week on/3 week off roster (12-hour shifts).

  •  Monitor and operate all plant within the site boundary including the refinery, tanker loading/unloading systems and the storage tank system.
  •  Maintain the log for refinery process variables and maintain quality with laboratory analysis and analyse product samples in the laboratory.
  •  Produce the required diesel specifications confirmed by the logistics production schedule
  •  Assist the Supervisor in shutdowns to maintain refinery process equipment to minimise downtime      
  • Inspect and maintain the truck load-out facility and assist truck drivers with tanker loading operations

What you’ll bring

You’re a hands‑on operator with strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. You’re comfortable with routine plant operations, problem‑solving on the go, and contributing to a small, high‑performing team.

  • Trade/mechanical or electrical background would be advantageous but not required
  • Knowledge of terminal products and operations and standard chemical industry practices preferred
  • Knowledge of firefighting equipment and operations and commitment to WHS
  • A valid Queensland manual vehicle driving license
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a small team
