The Role
The Quality Manager / Deputy Chief Engineer is responsible for engineering quality, governance and assurance activities across the Integrated Warfare Network Systems Program Office (IWNSPO). The role focuses on supporting Engineering Authority Organisation (AEO) certification, maintaining compliance with the Engineering Management System (EMS), and driving continual improvement across engineering, logistics and cyber functions.
Working closely with Engineering Managers and project teams, you will provide quality oversight, conduct reviews and audits, support the development of Engineering Plans, and ensure engineering artefacts comply with Defence requirements, regulations and applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare IWNSPO for initial and ongoing AEO certification activities.
- Conduct reviews and analysis to assess Engineering Management System (EMS) performance and compliance.
- Support Engineering Managers in the development of Engineering Plans.
- Review engineering artefacts and project/product Engineering Plans to ensure compliance with standards and Defence requirements.
- Develop and conduct internal audits to support certification readiness and assurance activities.
- Provide guidance on relevant Australian and International Standards, regulations and Defence requirements.
- Lead continual improvement initiatives across engineering, logistics and cyber functions.
- Facilitate pre-activity and post-activity reviews to support organisational learning and improvement.
About You
You have experience working within engineering governance, quality, assurance or engineering management environments and possess a strong understanding of engineering compliance requirements and quality management principles.
Essential Experience:
- Experience supporting or working within Engineering Management Systems (EMS).
- Experience reviewing engineering documentation, plans and artefacts for compliance with standards and requirements.
- Experience conducting audits, reviews, analysis and assurance activities.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian and International Standards, regulations and Defence requirements.
- Experience supporting engineering governance and certification activities.
- Ability to provide guidance and advice to project and engineering teams on engineering compliance and quality requirements.
- Experience driving continual improvement activities and supporting organisational performance initiatives.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience supporting Engineering Authority Organisation (AEO) certification activities.
- Experience working across engineering, logistics and cyber functions.
- Experience facilitating pre-activity reviews, post-activity reviews and lessons learned activities.
