The Role

As an ILS Manager you will be supporting key projects with delivering and sustaining critical Defence capability in support of Australia’s war fighters in executing Defence’s mission to defend Australia and its national interests. You will bring your ILS expertise and experience to coordinate the various elements required to ensure project success, progressing projects through the various stages of capability lifecycle from strategy and inception through to in-service support and disposal. In doing so you will play an essential role in providing the Australian Defence Force with cutting edge technology and tools to deliver its mission.

About You

The following are the Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Work alongside Commonwealth project team members, supporting the progress of projects through the One Defence Capability System, including development of key documents supporting project clearance through Defence capability gate reviews.
  • Liaise with Defence and non-Defence stakeholders.
  • Contribute to or develop ILS artefacts supporting project progress.
  • Perform Contract Deliverable Requirements List (CDRL) item reviews.
  • Provide advice and expertise on ILS policies and legislation for Defence stakeholders.
  • Analyse complex logistics issues and identify recommendations.

Essential requirements:

  • An industry recognized ILS qualification or certification.
  • Experience in Defence acquisition ILS policy, processes and procedures to support the acquisition and sustainment of equipment in accordance with Defence requirements.
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders within CASG, ADF and in-service support contractors.
  • Evaluate contractor material logistics activities to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Experience in achieving Fundamental Input to Capability (FIC) assurance statements in support of projects achieving IOC/FOC.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated clear communications both written and verbally especially in relation to ILS subject matter.
  • Experience in leading teams within a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Outgoing and be able to self-identify risks, issues and opportunities, and act upon those with minimal guidance.
  • Current or recently suspended NV2 AGSVA clearance OR ability to gain an NV2 security clearance from a minimum NV1 level.

Desirable requirements:

  • Defence experience in EW and the Land domain.
  • Experience in working above-the-line on Defence ASDEFCON acquisition and support contracts.
  • Trained in logistics aspects of the Defence ERP system.
  • Based in Canberra.
