We’re building aircraft that fly faster, further, and to space.
Hypersonix is an Australian aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing company building hydrogen-powered scramjet aircraft. We work at the bleeding edge of hypersonic technology, delivering aircraft that fly faster, reach further, and open new pathways to space – and we’re a small,
highly capable team doing work that genuinely matters.
The Opportunity
As our People & Culture Officer, you’ll play a key role in shaping our employee experience — supporting our people at every stage of their journey, from onboarding through to ongoing development.
This is a hands-on generalist role that keeps the engine running behind our people operations. You’ll own the administration that holds the P&C function together — HRIS and employment documentation, onboarding, training coordination, talent attraction, and accurate HR reporting — while fielding day-to-day queries from managers and employees and working closely with the Head of People & Culture. If you’re someone who’s organised, detail-oriented, and genuinely enjoys making things work well in an environment where the pace is high and no two weeks are the same, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in the HRIS — including monitoring leave balances and accruals.
- Support the employee lifecycle — contracts, variation letters, probation tracking, performance and salary review cycles, Employee Share Scheme administration, and offboarding.
- Manage the P&C team inboxes and respond to queries from employees and managers —
triaging, advising, or escalating with timely, accurate guidance.
- Provide administrative support to employee relations processes, building foundational
ER knowledge.
- Run monthly HR reports and complete compliance audits.
- Support talent attraction — prepare position descriptions, post on-brand job ads across job boards and our careers page, manage the ATS, maintain talent pools and pipelines and coordinate pre-employment checks (references, police, right-to-work).
- Support delivery of a connected onboarding experience — from preboarding through induction, system access, and first-day setup.
- Coordinate training & development logistics — bookings, comms, attendance — and maintain the company training register.
- Shape the team experience — support employee recognition incentives, coordinate merchandise, support internal team events and internal communications.
- Contribute to P&C continuous improvement — policy updates, SharePoint upkeep, and process documentation.
Life at Hypersonix
We’re a 60-person company moving fast in one of the most demanding fields in aerospace. The pace
is fast, expectations are high and the environment is constantly evolving. The people who thrive here are energised by that — not unsettled by it.
You’ll thrive here if you:
- Take ownership of your work and keep things moving, even when the picture isn’t complete
- Care about doing things well and getting them done — and learn to balance both
- Stay calm and constructive when priorities shift.
What you’ll bring
To hit the ground running in this role, you’ll need:
- Qualification in human resource management or a related field.
- 2-3 years’ experience in a generalist HR role, ideally in a fast-paced or complex
environment.
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end HR administration, including employment documentation
and HRIS management.
- Proficiency with HR software (HRIS and/or ATS) and strong Microsoft 365 skills including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Working knowledge of Australian workplace relations legislation and the Fair Work Act.
- Clear, professional communicator who can engage credibly with employees and leaders at
all levels.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and
self-direct in ambiguous situations.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy across all written documentation.
- Discreet and trustworthy, with a mature approach to handling confidential information.
- Ability to obtain any applicable security clearance or background checks.
- Right to live and work in Australia.
Bonus points for:
- Experience in aerospace, defence, advanced manufacturing, or a similarly technical
environment
- Familiarity with the Professionals Award, Clerks Award, and/or Manufacturing Award
