We are seeking a passionate Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Injury Management Coordinator who will be responsible for driving the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of WHS systems and processes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulation across Huon Regional Care. You will require demonstrated skills in proactive risk management, staff engagement, and effective injury management, fostering a culture of safety and well-being across the organisation. You will be part of a small but mighty People & Culture team committed to supporting our incredible employees in the valuable work that they do every day.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive person with a passion for improving outcomes and maintaining a culture of excellence.

Role is part time (0.6 FTE), Fixed term until 26 June 2026

Key Responsibilities:

• WHS – Develop, implement, and monitor WHS policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with legislation and alignment with best practices.

• Injury Management – Proactively manage workplace injuries, including regular follow-up with affected employees, development of return to work plans and resolution of claims.

• Risk management & Compliance – Identifying potential risks and developing strategies for mitigation. You will also be responsible for recording, monitoring and coordinating investigations of WHS related incidents as well as reflective review to identify preventative measures and continuous improvement opportunities.

• Training & Staff Engagement – Identify WHS-related training needs and coordinate relevant programs, including emergency management, and risk mitigation.

• Monitoring & reporting – Use data to identify trends to inform continuous improvement opportunities. You will be responsible for providing regular reporting to committees, Executive Manager People & Culture or other managers relating to WHS & Injury Management.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum).

• Minimum 2 years of experience in WHS and injury management roles.

• Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing risk mitigation strategies..

• Proven ability to manage workers compensation claims and develop return-to-work plans.

• Comprehensive knowledge of WHS legislation, standards, and regulations, including injury management practices and risk assessments.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, engage, and build effective relationships across all levels of an organization.

• High-level organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) for reporting and documentation.

• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of safety and well-being, with a proactive approach to risk management and compliance.

Other Requirements:

• A current Working with Vulnerable People Check & National Police Check.

• Vaccinations as per Aged Care requirements.

• Commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment for all clients and staff.
