HumanAbility is a Jobs and Skills Council for the health, human services, aged care and disability, sport & recreation and early childhood industries.

 

HumanAbility’s objective is to advance education by supporting skills and workforce development for the above specified industries. It is a values-based organisation, that is not-for-profit, industry-owned and led, that is contracted by the federal government.

 

We have an opportunity for a Stakeholder Engagement & Policy Coordinator to join us on a full-time basis in an ongoing capacity subject to funding (currently funded until mid-2028). The role may be located anywhere in Australia and will involve travel with overnight stays for organisation meetings, stakeholder meetings, workshops, and industry events.

 

About the position

You will play a vital role in facilitating connections and collaboration within the health, sport and recreation, children’s education, care and support sectors. You will be responsible for the coordination and administration of tasks to support stakeholders and the team(s) to undertake engagement activity, knowledge sharing, and policy development. You will bring high-level skills in administration, project management and engagement with senior stakeholders.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Support the Director and team(s) to assist in organising consultations, forums, meetings, written correspondence and other engagements with a diverse range of stakeholders. Assist the Director and team(s) to build rapport by organising and coordinating engagement activities and collating stakeholder insights and perspectives that contribute to HumanAbility’s workplan and objectives. In-person attendance at events may be required.
  • Assistance with engagement and communication: Assist the Director and team(s) in the preparation of consultation strategies, committees, agendas, minutes, communiques and some digital communication content, ensuring work is in line with Government frameworks where applicable. Contribute to and support efficient processes and systems across team(s) and projects.
  • Industry Policy Insight: Maintain an understanding of the trends, challenges, and opportunities, and assist the team(s) across projects to identify, record and share stakeholder feedback. Support team(s) across projects to maintain the stakeholder database and coordinate engagement and policy insights, including assisting in the writing and sharing of policy development across the organisation. (e.g. consultations, meetings, events analysis, briefs, minutes and research).
  • Project and cross organisation collaboration: Work closely with members of the stakeholder engagement and policy team, other internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure consistent, high value engagement strategies and policy development. Assist in the administration of research, and training product development projects and to support the work of other teams and projects within the organisation as required. Provide support to the Executive team as required, and in contribution to reports and information for Committees and Board as requested.
  • Process Management and System Tools: Assist in implementing a structured process for engagement and policy activities, ensuring efficiency and inclusivity, including adherence to established guidelines and process. Ensure stakeholder engagement activities are captured in the Stakeholder Relationship Management (SRM) database. Contribute to the development and improvement of process gaps to support continuous improvement within and across team(s). Provide advice on stakeholder engagement tools to capture, analyse and disseminate stakeholder insights.
  • Other: Observe and follow work health, safety and wellbeing policies and guidelines.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in administration, coordination and engagement with a demonstrated ability to support stakeholder experience, and team and organisation goals.
  • Demonstrated, high quality communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to communicate efficiently and professionally with various teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Cross organisational collaboration skills. Able to work effectively within a team and liaise with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Industry/sector expertise or the ability to build at this at pace.

 

Further Information

This is position is offered on an ongoing basis to reflect Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) grant funding.

 

There may be times when it is required to work outside normal business hours i.e.

evenings and weekends to meet operational and/or stakeholder requirements, and

dependant on work deliverables, the role may be required to undertake travel.
