Job Title: Student Support Coordinator
Job Summary:
We are seeking a caring and understanding individual to join our team as a Student Support Coordinator at Learner Me, Taranaki’s dedicated tech training academy. In this role, you will be responsible for providing practical and psychological support to our learners, ensuring their engagement and enthusiasm throughout the learning process. As the key point of contact for our students during their time with Learner Me, you will play a vital role in helping them achieve success.
Responsibilities:
– Offer practical and psychological support to learners, addressing any concerns or issues they may have.
– Maintain high levels of student engagement and enthusiasm by creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
– Serve as the main point of contact for students studying at Learner Me, providing guidance and assistance throughout their educational journey.
– Collaborate with instructors and staff to identify students who may require additional support or resources.
– Develop personalized support plans for individual students based on their unique needs.
– Monitor student progress through regular check-ins and assessments.
– Organize workshops or seminars on topics related to personal development or mental health awareness.
Skills:
– Pastoral care/Student Care/Youth experience is beneficial in order to provide effective support to learners facing various challenges.
– Passion for nurturing potential in others by demonstrating empathy, understanding, and encouragement.
– Empathetic demeanor with an approachable attitude that creates a safe space for open communication between students and the coordinator.
– Adult learning or counseling qualifications are beneficial as they provide a strong foundation in supporting individuals through educational journeys or personal growth processes
– Understanding of manaakitanga (hospitality) which involves treating all individuals with respect, kindness, generosity while maintaining cultural sensitivity.
– Affiliations with local iwi (tribes) are beneficial as it helps foster connections within the community that promote cultural inclusivity
– Proficiency with Te Reo (Māori language) is beneficial as it enhances communication and understanding with Māori students.
– High standards of integrity to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in handling sensitive student information.
Qualifications:
No specific qualifications are required for this role, but experience in pastoral care or adult learning/counseling is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications or degrees in counseling, education, social work, or a related field will be given preference.
