Hammond Nguyen Turnbull (HNT) is a growing multidisciplinary law firm built on transparency, trust and genuine relationships. We are a collaborative, down-to-earth team that takes pride in delivering practical, client-focused legal advice across a range of practice areas.

 We are growing our Criminal Law practice and are looking for a motivated Junior Criminal Solicitor to join our team in Parramatta. This permanent, full-time opportunity is ideal for a recently admitted lawyer or junior solicitor looking to build a strong foundation in criminal law within a supportive and hands-on environment.

This role offers genuine mentorship, early responsibility, court exposure, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced criminal lawyers on a wide range of matters.

The Role

You will support senior lawyers across various criminal law matters while developing your advocacy, and client management skills. You will   build your skills to run your own criminal law files under supervision of a Senior Associate

What You’ll Do

  • Attend Court mentions, sentences and hearings for local court matters
  • Assist in preparing legal documents, briefs and court materials for indictable offences
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies and submissions      
  • Brief Counsel in Trial
  • Draft correspondence, legal documents and file notes
  • Communicate with clients regarding case progress and information gathering
  • Maintain accurate file management and case records
  • Liaise with courts, Counsel other legal professionals and experts
  • Support the criminal law team with day-to-day case management

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent qualification
  • Admitted in NSW or currently completing PLT / eligible for admission
  • Strong interest in criminal law and advocacy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn
