Our Hillsong College team are currently looking for a Casual Trainer (VET / Higher Education) to join the team at our Hills Campus. This role goes beyond teaching—it’s about discipleship, impartation, and leadership development. You will deliver engaging tutorials, facilitate meaningful discussions, and walk alongside students in their growth journey. You’ll support their development through clear feedback, assessment, and pastoral encouragement, helping shape both competence and character.
While deeply ministry-focused, this role also requires a commitment to academic integrity and excellence, including preparation, alignment with course outcomes, and timely, fair assessment.
Other aspects of this role include:
Tutoring & Assessing
- Deliver engaging tutorials in theology, biblical studies, and related disciplines.
- Assess students’ assignments and support their learning.
- Utilise diverse teaching methods and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Ensure alignment with the college’s faith-based ethos and academic standards.
Academic Support
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, discussions, and assessments.
- Provide student-centered timely communications and student service with proactive guidance to students with an insightful understanding of effective learning.
- Encourage integration of academic learning with personal faith and ministry practice.
Curriculum & Professional Development
- Collaborate with the academic team to update and improve course content and learning materials.
- Incorporate current theological scholarship and practical ministry insights.
- Engage in ongoing professional and spiritual development.
- Attend and contribute to faculty meetings, training sessions, and college events
Deliver & Assess Training Modules
- Deliver training and assessment in these areas according to accredited course requirements, CRICOS and AQTF standards and College Academic Policies and Procedures.
- Meet AQTF and CRICOS requirements regarding qualifications and professional development on an ongoing basis or be under the direct supervision of someone who does.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
Ideally, the successful candidate will bring:
- Certificate IV in Assessment & Workplace Training (TAE) desirable.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, or Arts in Biblical Studies required.
- Prior teaching or tutoring experience at the tertiary level desirable.
- Academic knowledge of subject areas relevant to theological education and ministry training.
- Practical knowledge of issues related to contemporary ministry.
- Principles of adult education, pedagogy and effective learning.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong people skills.
