We are seeking an experienced and hands-on National Human Resources Manager to lead our HR function across a growing national business. Reporting to the Director and leading a team of two, this role is both strategic and operational—perfect for someone who can drive HR initiatives while remaining close to the day-to-day needs of the business.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll lead the way in building a strong, people-focused culture across the business. As National HR Manager, you’ll oversee HR, WHS, and engagement initiatives, working closely with leaders to provide practical, strategic advice while guiding the HR team to deliver meaningful, consistent outcomes. You’ll also engage directly with our store network, with occasional travel to provide hands-on training and support where it matters most.
Key Responsibilities
HR Leadership & Strategy
Lead and deliver the national HR strategy in alignment with business objectives, driving initiatives across employee engagement, retention, and workforce planning. Oversee WHS programs, including workers compensation and return-to-work processes, ensuring a proactive and compliant approach.
Advisory & Operational Support
Provide practical and commercially focused HR advice to managers and employees across the business. Support key people processes including recruitment, performance management, and employee relations, while remaining hands-on and stepping into operational matters as required.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure all HR practices comply with Australian employment legislation and WHS standards. Proactively manage employee relations risk and maintain up-to-date policies and procedures that support consistent and compliant operations.
Employee Engagement & Development
Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture through the delivery of engagement initiatives, training, and leadership development programs. Support succession planning to ensure long-term capability and growth across the business.
Reporting & Systems
Provide accurate and timely HR and WHS reporting to senior leadership, supporting informed decision-making. Oversee HRIS data integrity and ensure payroll processes remain compliant and efficient.
About You
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior HR leadership role
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment law and WHS legislation
- Proven ability to balance strategy with hands-on delivery
- Excellent communication, influencing, and conflict resolution skills
- Experience working across multi-site or multi-entity environments
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, or related field
- Experience in retail, construction, or similar industries
