Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is keen to develop strong technical accounting and commercial skills within a fast-paced logistics environment. This position will support day-to-day finance operations and gain hands-on exposure to core accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance Operations
- Support AP and AR departments in the execution of invoice capture, payment and recording
- Undertake daily receipting in CargoWise, supporting the bank reconciliation process
- Creation of weekly invoicing for Contract Logistics business unit in Excel and Xero
Accounting Processes
- Prepare and circulate daily management reports to internal departments to drive actions
- Assist Senior Financial Accountant with monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Core Competencies:
- Accurate capture of invoice detail and recording of transactions in accounting ledgers
- Stakeholder management and communication skills (particularly when managing dual AR and AP processes for Overseas Freight Forwarders we ‘buy from’ and ‘sell to’
- Time management skills and ability to juggle competing priorities by proactively communicating with senior team members and lateral colleagues
- Beginner/intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel a key requirement for the successful candidate
About You:
You have completed, or are currently studying towards, a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Around 1–2 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role is desirable; however, candidates with less experience and a strong willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. You are detail-oriented, organised, and keen to develop your technical accounting and professional communication skills within a supportive team environment.
