The Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Café Manager to lead the daily operations of our busy, high-volume café. Operating 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch service, this role extends beyond the café to include oversight of two food trucks and a staff lunch for our corporate team. This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the profitable day-to-day operations of the café, food trucks, and staff lunch lounge
- Lead, motivate, train, and develop Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) teams
- Manage staffing levels, rostering, and labour costs in line with business needs
- Supervise staff performance and foster a positive, high-performing workplace culture
- Ensure high standards of customer service, food quality, and presentation are consistently met
- Greet customers, take orders, and process payments efficiently
- Build strong customer relationships and personalise service where possible
- Handle customer feedback, complaints, and resolutions professionally
- Cultivate a welcoming and positive atmosphere for customers
- Prepare and serve high-quality beverages, including coffee, milkshakes, and smoothies
- Support the introduction of new menu items, initiatives, and promotions
- Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships
- Monitor stock levels and minimise waste through effective strategies
- Manage functions, catering, and event execution
- Drive sales and identify opportunities to improve revenue and operational efficiency
- Assist in the development of marketing strategies, including social media and online presence
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, food hygiene, liquor, and fire regulations
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation standards across all areas
- Conduct regular safety checks and ensure equipment is maintained and serviced
- Perform opening and closing procedures and train staff on this
- Manage banking, cash handling, reconciliations, and variance investigations
About You
- Proven experience as a Cafe Manager or in a simular hospitality leadership role
- Strong understanding of both FOH and BOH operations
- Experience managing high-volume service environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and inspire a team
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and P&L management
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Availability to work across a 7-day rotating roster
