Harbison Overview
Harbison is a charitable, community-owned, not-for-profit organisation that provides residential and non-residential care and support services for aged or disabled people, including a range of support services and systems to assist aged and disabled people to achieve maximum independence and integration within a residential or community setting, education and training of professionals and
other care providers, and activities which are incidental or conducive to these objectives.
Currently, Harbison is an approved aged care provider, registered NDIS provider, approved childcare provider, retirement village owner, and one of the largest employers in the Southern Highlands. Harbison is governed by a Board of Directors which appoints a Chief Executive Officer who is delegated with day-to-day responsibility for the organisation.
Primary purpose of the role
The primary role of the Transport Driver is to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of residents, staff, and approved community passengers during a range of activities, functions, appointments, and outings. This includes, but is not limited to, privately booked transport for residents, group bookings, chartered transport for Harbison community partners, and designated after-school pick-up services for children as required.
In addition to transport responsibilities, the Transport Driver is also responsible for coordinating the Harbison fleet of vehicles. This includes scheduling vehicle use, maintaining booking systems, monitoring vehicle availability, and ensuring vehicles are safe, clean, and operationally ready to support service delivery requirements.
Key accountabilities
- Safe embarkment and disembarkment of residents and children into and out of the vehicle.
- Actively participating in and supporting organised outings as required.
- Maintain and enforce the Transport Booking system and processes.
- Work with the teams within the organisation to establish a regular timetable of outings.
- Collaborating with the manager to plan and research suitable future outings, including conducting risk assessments.
- Possess and maintain a valid LR Drivers’ License, including assessments and reassessments as needed.
- Possess and maintain a valid Working with Children Check qualification, including assessments and reassessments as needed.
- Follow all traffic laws, regulations and safe driving practices while operating the vehicle.
- Maintain appropriate
records including:
- completing relevant checklists
- daily inspections
- reporting accidents and incidents
- completing log sheets
- arranging regular servicing
- Ensure vehicles are always clean, tidy, and in good condition.
- Promptly inform the Resident Experience Manager of any vehicle malfunctions or maintenance requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service and support to residents during transportation, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Carry out all other reasonable duties within the overall function of the role.

Requirements
- Currently hold or are willing to obtain a Class LR (Light Rigid) Driver’s License with a safe driving record.

- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Experience working with older people including the frail aged, people with a disability and children.
- Must hold a current National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Check.
- Must meet Child Protection Act requirements and hold a current NSW Working with Children Check clearance.
