About Us

We are a boutique, NewLaw Australian immigration law firm focusing on delivering client-centric immigration solutions. We work across all areas, of Australian immigration, and represent clients from asylum seekers to global organisations. The firm is staffed by passionate immigration professionals (including an Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law) with extensive experience in global law firms and a drive to “beat yesterday”. We love innovation and thrive on adapting to change. Over the last 8 years we’ve focused on constantly improving and evolving our systems to ensure our clients have access to the best in market immigration service. We’re a small team (9 lawyers + 6 admin staff) but have been steadily growing off the back of a commitment to immigration excellence and love for technology. We are rapidly growing our Perth practice, and need some steady hands to push us in the right direction.

Opportunity

We’re looking for a junior immigration professional who is a fantastic communicator, a collaborative team player, and an innovative case manager. This role will primarily work with employer sponsored visas and your focus will be our largest corporate client, though you may dabble in all things immigration from asylum applications to family visas. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills as a corporate immigration specialist, and also help drive the firms use of technology for a high volume client.

The work you can expect

  • maintain relationships with the various stakeholders in our biggest corporate client, and provide advice across the spectrum of employer sponsored immigration pathways (including the GTES, company specific labour agreements, SID visas, ENS visas, 400 visas and compliance issues)
  • draft, prepare, and lodge a high volume of immigration applications which includes identifying issues, solutions and handling client expectations (handle around 30 active cases at a time, lodge 12+ SID or similar visas per month)
  • work collaboratively with a team to ensure files are progressing and updated via our internal file management systems / tools
  • handle basic immigration enquiries in other practice areas and deliver clear, concise and prompt communication
  • utilise technology and project management skills to set clear and fair client expectations, with the aim of often exceeding them

What we’re looking for in candidates

  • ideally you are based in Perth for a hybrid role, but we are also open to applicants based in Melbourne where our home office is situated
  • 1-2 years of experience in immigration law (preferably in a high volume corporate case load environment)
  • an understanding of the Migration Act, Regulations, and Policy
  • an energetic, articulate and passionate communicator – we value plain English law which means clear and prompt communication
  • ability to build / develop excellent relationships with clients from a variety of backgrounds
  • an ability to mesh with a supportive and highly driven team culture
  • a strong sense of ethics and interest in the immigration space
  • excellent organisational skills and ability to utilise file management systems efficiently
  • you can still apply if you don’t meet all of the requirements, just pitch to us why you’re a good fit

We also value these traits

  • an eagerness and motivation to learn and better themselves
  • an appreciation of diversity and tolerance for differences of opinion
  • a willingness to pick up, explore, or propose new software, technologies and methodologies to operate effectively
  • a true team player with a commitment to working together, not against each other
  • an embodiment of HT value here: https://www.hannantew.com.au/core-values

What we offer

  • a non-traditional legal workplace – with almost zero time-recording and no formal dress code
  • a new Perth office location with various amenities (opening on the 28th of April!)
  • flexible working arrangements (including provision of work from home equipment)
  • a transparent firm culture and open communication with experts in their field (including access to an Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law)
  • a great work culture in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • opportunity for real growth and to build your own “niche” within our firm as we look to grow our practice
  • $84,000 to $95,200 per annum depending on experience (inclusive of super) and discretionary bonuses based on firm growth
  • the ability (and we promote) additional training within or outside of your area (e.g. Code Academy, Udemy or other educational tools you wish to pursue)
