We’re looking for a hands-on Maintenance & Gardener to help keep our camp and accommodation facilities running smoothly and presented to a high standard. This is a practical, varied role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, solving problems and being part of a team that makes a real difference for young people and guests.
The Role
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining buildings, gardens, grounds and equipment across our unique outdoor venue. No two days are the same — one day you might be fixing, building or maintaining, the next you’ll be mowing, planting or preparing the site for groups and events.
You’ll work independently and alongside a supportive team, supervise contractors when needed, and help ensure the site is safe, welcoming and well cared for.
What You’ll Be Doing
Maintenance & Facilities
- Maintain buildings, plant and equipment to a high safety and presentation standard
- Complete routine and preventative maintenance
- Operate and maintain workshop tools and machinery
- Use tractors, forklifts, slashers and mowers
- Supervise contractors and assist with site improvement projects
- Keep workshops and storage areas safe, clean and organised
- Undertake physical tasks including lifting, digging, mulching, raking and working at heights
Gardens & Grounds
- Maintain gardens, lawns and grounds to a high standard
- Mowing, slashing, pruning, planting, watering and weed control
- Care for trees, fencing, garden features and animal areas (yes, including chooks)
- Fire and storm preparation, gutter cleaning and tree safety works
- Install and maintain landscaping and irrigation systems
- Safety, Teamwork & Sustainability
- Conduct site inspections and essential services checks
- Work within WHS and compliance requirements
- Support sustainability and environmental initiatives
- Assist with event set-up, pack-down and general site operations
What We’re Looking For
You’ll Bring:
- Experience in maintenance, facilities, grounds or handyman work
- Strong gardening, landscaping or horticulture skills with good plant knowledge
- Confidence operating machinery and equipment, including:
- Tractors (front-end loader and forks), slashers, bobcats or small excavators
- Mowers, forklifts, chainsaws, brush cutters and line trimmers
- A practical, proactive and team-focused attitude
- Ability to work outdoors in all conditions
- A genuine commitment to child safety and wellbeing
Licences & Requirements:
- Manual Driver’s Licence (HR an advantage)
- Chainsaw Operation Licence
- Working at Heights
- First Aid & CPR
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
Nice to Have;
- Trade qualification or horticulture/landscaping certification
- Experience in camps, outdoor recreation or accommodation settings
- Contractor supervision or emergency management experience
