Silverband Lodge are seeking a capable and motivated Part Time Assistant Catering
Manager to support the delivery of high-quality catering services across a
diverse range of settings, including school groups, camps, retreats,
expeditions, weddings and functions on 12 month contract. This is a hands-on role
suited to someone who enjoys being involved in food preparation while also
supporting people, processes and service standards.
About the Role
Working closely with the Catering Manager, you will assist
in overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations, preparing and serving meals,
supervising staff, and ensuring food safety and service standards are
consistently met. You’ll play an important role in coordinating workflows,
mentoring team members, and stepping up to lead the kitchen when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist
the Catering Manager with day-to-day kitchen and catering operations
- Prepare,
cook and serve high-quality meals across camps, groups and events
- Support
menu planning, including dietary and allergy requirements
- Assist
with food ordering, stock control, deliveries and supplier liaison
- Maintain
high standards of food presentation, service, cleanliness and timing
- Ensure
compliance with food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements
- Supervise,
support and train catering staff, coordinating workflows during busy
periods
- Step
into a leadership role as required to ensure smooth service delivery
- Engage
with guests professionally and respond to meal-related queries
- Identify
and report maintenance issues, hazards and opportunities for improvement
About You
You are confident working both independently and
collaboratively in a fast-paced hospitality environment. You have strong
attention to detail, high standards across food and service, and the
communication skills to support and lead a diverse team.
You will ideally bring:
- A
trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (completed or in progress), or
equivalent industry experience
- Safe
Food Handling certification (Supervisory level)
- Proven
experience in commercial food preparation, cooking and service
- Experience
supervising staff and coordinating kitchen workflows
- Strong
interpersonal and communication skills
- A
calm, organised approach and commitment to safety and quality
- Weekday
and Weekend availability required
