We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Accountant on a fixed term contract (3-6 months, with potential for extension) to join our Finance team to deliver accurate cost analysis, margin reporting and manufacturing insights that support operational performance and strategic decision making.
THE ROLE
This is an ideal opportunity for a commercially minded accountant with strong manufacturing experience who thrives on analysis, problem solving, and driving process improvement.
You will:
- Take ownership of manufacturing performance reporting and cost accounting
- Manage month end inventory journals, reconciliations across stock, WIP and finished goods, and ensure timely and accurate close.
- Deliver gross margin, conversion cost, run rate efficiency and equipment utilisation analysis.
- Conduct ROI and life cycle cost benefit analysis for plant and equipment investments.
- Lead month end cost accounting close, including inventory valuation and NRV assessments.
- Manage standard and average costing methodologies and maintain cost accounting systems integrity.
- Prepare COGS and production reports and reconcile ledger to cost reports.
- Oversee bill of materials updates and annual stocktakes including landed cost validation.
- Drive quarterly price reviews, product profitability analysis, and EBIT impact costing models.
- Manage FX cover aligned to forward demand planning and provide hedge versus spot analysis.
- Manage R&D schedules to optimise grants and compliance outcomes.
ABOUT YOU
You are analytical, commercially aware, and comfortable working in a fast paced manufacturing environment where accuracy and deadlines matter.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Business majoring in Accounting and Finance, with a focus on manufacturing or cost accounting principles, or equivalent experience in data analytics or cost accounting.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar cost accounting or business analyst role within a manufacturing business.
- Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
- Advanced ERP or MRP systems experience and strong Microsoft Office capability.
- Strong analytical skills with an inquisitive, solutions focused mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships particularly within a multicultural environment.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines without compromising accuracy.
- A proactive approach with initiative and a commitment to continuous improvement.
