Are you passionate about propagation, plant health, and achieving outstanding growing results? We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Young Plant Growing Area Leader to join our Propagation team at Haars Nursery.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with propagation experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced nursery environment and takes pride in producing high-quality young plants.

About the role

Reporting to the Young Plant Supervisor, you will oversee cultivation activities associated with seed and clonal propagation while ensuring growing processes, plant health standards, and operational procedures are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve and maintain germination and tissue culture plug strike rates
  • Monitor plant health, pests and disease management
  • Ensure growing equipment is checked and maintained regularly
  • Maintain clean and sanitised propagation and growing areas
  • Support and train team members in propagation processes and work practices
  • Maintain and follow SOPs and propagation procedures
  • Coordinate inventory, stock and consumables for propagation activities
  • Ensure PPE, spray equipment and safety procedures are maintained
  • Contribute ideas and improvements to growing processes and operations

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 2–3 years’ propagation experience within a wholesale nursery
  • Strong plant knowledge and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office and general IT skills
