If you’re passionate about plants and ready to turn that passion into a career, Haars Nursery could be the perfect place to put down roots and flourish.

We’re seeking a Junior Grower to join our experienced and supportive Growing Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or someone keen to break into the horticulture industry within a large-scale, professional growing operation.

You’ll be guided through a structured, hands-on training program under the mentorship of our Head Grower, gaining real-world experience that builds the foundation to progress into a Grower role.

What You’ll Learn & Be Doing

You’ll gain exposure across all aspects of plant production, including:

  • Watering and irrigation management
  • Operating irrigation systems for watering and fertigation
  • Plant pathology and disease identification
  • Pest and disease scouting, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Use of organic crop protectants
  • Spraying and drenching crops
  • Water and soil testing and analysis
  • Managing and controlling greenhouse environments
  • Sticky trap monitoring and analysis
  • Crop planning and scheduling
  • Plant propagation techniques
  • Growing media testing and evaluation
  • Research, problem-solving, and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

  • A formal horticulture qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Reliable, hardworking, and genuinely keen to learn and develop
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a friendly, diverse team
  • Work Environment & Flexibility

A career in horticulture means working with nature, so some tasks may involve varying weather conditions. Occasional weekend work (such as plant watering) may be required, but we offer a flexible roster with a mix of weekday and weekend shifts to meet full-time hours.
