Business Development Manager – North America – Remote

New York, 10001, United States • Full-time

Description

DistroDirect is building the music distribution infrastructure for the next era of the music industry. We are looking for a Business Development Manager who sits at the intersection of global music culture and scalable technology for supporting artists release music.

This isn’t a standard sales role. You’ll work alongside our scouts and A&R team to identify high-potential partners—from underground artist collectives to artist managers working with self-releasing artists to scaling record labels—and show them how our platform can scale their operations. You need to be as comfortable discussing API workflows and YouTube MCN strategy as you are navigating new sub-cultures. If you have the commercial acumen to lead high-level product demos and a technical understanding of digital distribution, we want you on the team.

Position Description

DistroDirect is dedicated to empowering independent artist teams and building global music communities through a blend of cutting-edge technology and meticulous support. By providing scalable services and innovative products, the platform handles the technical complexities of the industry, allowing music businesses to focus on their core mission: creating and growing art.

As a vital link in this ecosystem, the Business Development Manager collaborates with scouts and A&R to identify diverse partners across all musical genres and business models. This role requires a sophisticated balance of commercial acumen and technical expertise in digital distribution. The ideal candidate will lead product demonstrations and articulate the value of DistroDirect’s comprehensive suite, including YouTube MCN, publishing, and marketing services, to drive global growth.

Responsibilities

Lead Qualification & Sales Pipeline

  • Working closely with music businesses to understand their needs in music distribution and how we may help them. Assess inbound and referred leads, conduct discovery calls and platform demonstrations and manage the full sales process — from initial contact through to agreement signature and onboarding initiation.

Partner Onboarding & Integration

  • Serve as the primary contact during the onboarding phase, ensuring partners are technically and operationally ready to launch.

A&R Management

  • Lead and mentor A&R scouts responsible for sourcing and referring interesting potential partners.
  • Source and recruit new scouts to support business strategies.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2–4 years’ experience in music distribution, digital rights management, or business development within the music or media industry.
  • Strong understanding of music distribution systems, DSP operations, YouTube MCN, music publishing, and related digital infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to manage a sales pipeline from qualification to close.
  • Confident communicator and presenter, capable of conducting technical product demonstrations.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple concurrent deals and relationships.
  • Proficient in CRM (HubSpot, Monday.com, or similar) and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to interpret partner data and use it to inform business decisions.
  • Passion for independent music, partner success, and digital innovation.
