About the role

We are looking for an experienced maintenance person who can work hands on to support the upkeep of our Londonderry facility. From maintaining grounds and facilities to supporting day-to-day operations, your work will directly contribute to the wellbeing of greyhounds, staff, volunteers and visitors alike!

This isn’t your standard maintenance role, it’s an opportunity to help create a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment where retired racing greyhounds begin the next chapter of their lives. If you enjoy variety, can work autonomously, take pride in your work and like the idea of working in an environment with purpose, this could be the perfect fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • General maintenance, repairs and preventative upkeep
  • Grounds maintenance including mowing, gardening and weed control
  • Inspecting buildings, fencing, animal enclosures and equipment
  • Maintaining maintenance tools, machinery and vehicles
  • Assisting with hydro pool maintenance
  • Coordinating contractors for larger repairs and servicing
  • Supporting workplace health and safety standards
  • Assisting with facility upgrades and improvement projects
  • Helping maintain a clean, professional and welcoming environment across the site

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for someone who notices what needs fixing before being asked. You’re organised, dependable and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Most importantly, you’ll bring a positive attitude and genuine care for animal welfare.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Experience in maintenance, groundskeeping or operational environments
  • Practical skills in carpentry, painting, plumbing or general repairs
  • Experience operating tractors, mowing or landscaping equipment
  • Knowledge of weed control, pest management or pool chemicals
  • A strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices
  • A current Driver’s Licence
  • Forklift or machinery licences (desirable or willingness to obtain).
