THE ROLE
The role of Technician is to support operations with duties relating to Goterra’s robotic machinery, and to support the maintenance and operations of Goterra’s sites across ACT and NSW.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assembling and installing machinery components based on engineering drawings and instructions
- Working under the instruction of Maintenance Lead to modify machine parts and components
- Undertaking basic fault finding and troubleshooting in response to service issues
- Undertaking reactive maintenance of mechanical equipment such as unblocking pipes and pumps.
- Undertaking preventative maintenance according to preventative maintenance schedule
- Working alongside Engineers and trade qualified people to help solve mechanical issues.
- Complete routine installation and maintenance of equipment.
- Operate various tools, power-tools and machinery required to complete the job
- Remove material contaminants and blockages if needed
- Cleaning and maintaining workspace and equipment.
- Some administrative tasks such as purchasing, reporting and record keeping
- Document service incidents and responses
- Proactively communicating with the team regarding work activities and progress.
- Working with team members to ensure project deliverables and deadlines are met.
- Carrying out all duties in line with Goterra’s policies, processes, and procedures.
- Other duties as reasonably required
KEY SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
- Must be competent and confident using hand and power tools without supervision.
- General fabrication skills such as grinding and welding
- Aptitude and capability for practical mechanical problem solving, and a commitment to learning and developing these skills.
- The ability and/or aptitude to read and interpret engineering drawings,
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to proactively use communication skills to interact with other members of the tech team
- A positive “can do” attitude and a commitment to working with other members of the team to get the job done
- The ability to use initiative to perform duties as directed with minimal supervision, while also following instruction and protocol.
- Flexibility – this is a fast paced role which requires the ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements.
- The ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, e.g. some lifting up to 20kgs may be required, and the position requires being on your feet for the duration of the shift.
- Digital literacy skills – a mobile phone is required to communicate with team members and for task management
- A valid driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Ability to travel interstate when required to complete maintenance and installation jobs
Academic or Trade Qualifications Required:
- CIT qualifications or equivalent preferred but not essential
- Will consider recently graduated Mechatronics or Mechanical engineers
