Description

Godolphin has an exciting opportunity for two Seasonal Foaling Attendants to be based at its Northwood Park operation near Seymour.

Reporting to the Broodmare Manager, the Foaling Attendant is responsible for the general wellbeing of bloodstock on the farm as well as the care of pre and post foaling mares and their foals. This role is required to provide assistance to all bloodstock areas on farm including working with foals, broodmares, weanlings and yearlings.

This position also includes night watch during the season. This role provides effective support services to the Stud Manager and line Managers to ensure correct stud procedures are established and maintained while ensuring all horses receive quality care and attention.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine night-time monitoring of pregnant mares, ensuring appropriate personnel are present to observe and assist with the foaling process.
  • Provide assistance with the foaling process as required.
  • Complete routine care of pregnant mares, mares and foals overnight, ensuring appropriate nutrition, maintenance of health and welfare pre and post foaling.
  • Carry out daily stud tasks and activities such as feeding, checking stock, mucking out, general cleaning and upkeep.
  • Routine health checks, recognising signs of injury and or signs of a healthy or unhealthy horse and reporting concerns.
  • Timely and accurate communication and recording of information.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workplace ensuring that all hazards and incidents are reported to your manager/Supervisor as soon as practicable
  • Co-operate with all WHS policies to ensure the safety of yourself and others in the workplace

Criteria:

  • Previous experience with foaling down mares on a stud farm
  • Suitable experience in the Equine industry
  • Reliable with a good work ethic
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
