About the Role

Due to the growth of our business, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our growing team in the role of Orchard Operations Supervisor.

The Orchard Operations Supervisor works closely with the Farm Manager to assist with the day-to-day operations and ensures the sustainable production of high-quality citrus fruit. This role will support the team to ensure the operation and maintenance of the orchard is achieved in line with key Company targets. This role will ensure that all orchard activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Leading WHS and food safety compliance on the orchard

• Assist the Farm Manager to prepare and implement the weekly operational plan.

• Supervise the operational team (including contractors) to ensure work quality standards and cost efficiency is achieved in accordance with the Farm Managers directions.

• Work with the technical team to develop and deliver on sustainable and regenerative metrics

• Understand and safely operate all machinery and equipment on site (including tractors, slasher and mulcher, irrigation pumps, spray carts, pruning equipment) and be able to effectively train others when required.

• Maintain accurate records, specifically around work completed and productivity data

• Inventory oversight of chemical, fertilizer & other supplies

• Be able to act in the Farm Manager’s absence

About You

To be successful in the role, the following skills, attitudes and experience are considered essential:

• Practical orchard experience and be ready to take the next step in your career

• A safe work ethic and knowledge of orchard best practices

• Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving ability to manage assigned work and meet deadlines

• Accurate reporting and maintenance of necessary records for our systems – computer skills are a must!

• Effectively communicate with a diverse workforce and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Able to Supervise, train, coach and mentor other employees and contractors

• Willing to undertake physical tasks (bending, lifting, climbing ladders etc)

• A current driver’s licence (car as a minimum, HR truck is a bonus)

• Australian work eligibility

The following qualifications are desirable, but not essential.

• forklift licence

• chemical handling certificate

• first aid certificate

• qualification in Agriculture or Horticulture

This role is offered as a permanent full-time position and would ideally suit a proactive, motivated person wishing to develop their career in horticulture. Experience in staff & contractor supervision, machinery operation and tree maintenance will be highly regarded.
