Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Orchard Hand / experienced Senior Orchard Hand to join our citrus operations team.

Our orchard hands have a variety of jobs to do –

  • tractor operations including slashing, mulching and spraying the orchard
  • general machinery maintenance
  • monitor and identify pest and disease issues and report them to the supervisor.
  • irrigation repairs and general farm maintenance
  • tree maintenance and preparation for new plantings
  • assisting with parts and consumable stocktakes and inventory management
  • cleaning and maintenance of machinery and the workshop
  • supporting the harvest teams in the field (this is not a fruit picking job)
  • loading/unloading trucks
  • general farm maintenance tasks
  • work closely with other experienced farm staff to ensure the health and productivity of our orchards.

A senior orchard hand will bring a mix of hands-on technical skills, leadership, and operational awareness.

This position is ongoing casual, with up to full time hours and occasional weekend work. Future company progression including opportunities for permanent positions will be considered for the right candidates.

This is a hands-on, outdoor role involving regular physical activity such as lifting, walking, standing and bending throughout the day.

• Enjoys working outdoors and being part of a supportive team

• Brings a positive attitude and takes pride in their work

• Can work safely and independently when required

• Can follow detailed instructions and has the initiative to manage their own tasks

• Can record information clearly using electronic devices

• Is interested in long-term, ongoing work within our operation

• Australian work rights are essential – we are not offering sponsorship for this role.

Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license is required.

• Must be legally entitled to work in Australia

• Forklift licence and AgChem Certification is required (or willingness to obtain)

Training will be provided, and there are opportunities for career progression for the right person.

Our general work hours are Monday to Friday, with some weekend work during the busy summer season. Early starts are normal, especially in warmer months.

Pay and conditions are in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020, with casual positions starting at Level 3 – $32.04/hr.
