Description

  • We are seeking a Specialist Family Violence Team Leader within our high-security Refuge! This role is a SCHADS Level 7.1 – 7.3 ($122,670 – $127,788) pay point dependent on experience, plus 12% superannuation and up to $15,990 salary packaging. This role is ongoing and available on a full-time (1.0 EFT) basis.
  • About the role
  • The Specialist Family Violence Team Leader is responsible for providing leadership and operational oversight of refuge services that support the safety, recovery, and empowerment of victim survivors escaping family violence. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, client-centred support that is trauma-informed, child-focused, culturally safe, and aligned with evidence-based family violence practice.
  • You will lead and support a team of Specialist Family Violence Practitioners and Residential Support Workers, providing supervision, guidance, and day-to-day direction to ensure consistent, accountable service delivery. Working within GenWest’s values and frameworks, you will foster a positive team culture, build practitioner capability, and ensure that services are delivered in line with organisational policies, the MARAM Framework, and relevant practice standards.
  • Key responsibilities:
    • Managing, leading and developing a team of Specialist Family Violence Practitioners and Residential Support Workers, including allocation and monitoring of workload to ensure best practice management standards
    • Ensuring the refuge and services delivers high quality, evidence based, family violence interventions to individuals and families.
    • Leading and working collaboratively to implement operational processes that support high quality service delivery
    • Leading and coaching workers in how to resolve complex case management issues
    • Supervising and developing the capabilities of case workers to effectively apply frameworks and utilise tools to support victim survivors
    • Contributing to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures that reflect and guide the objectives and operations of the team in line with current best practice guidance, relevant legislation and professional responsibilities.
    • Establishing and maintaining collaborative and productive relationships with other programs, service providers, current and potential stakeholders and agency partners to ensure effective support pathways for clients
    • Oversee quality control and maintenance of client files
    • Establishing methods and systems within the workplace to foster reflective and culturally safe practices
    • Providing support, supervision and debriefing to staff
    • Working with the Manager to undertake recruitment, workload management, retention, and performance reviews of refuge staff.
    • Monitoring risk to clients, staff and GenWest related to service delivery
    • Providing responses to incidents and manage in accordance with GenWest processes and escalate where required
    • Focusing on managing and problem-solving unpredictable issues
    • Maintaining regular communication and feedback with the Manager
    • Being an active representative in forums, Family Violence Sector network meetings as well as interagency meetings as required
    • Adhering to all Work, Health, and Safety protocols
    • Adhering to the Code of Conduct at GenWest and displaying at all times workplace respect
    • Participate in the On Call roster (weekends and after hours)
  • About you
  • Essential
    • Tertiary qualifications in social work or a related field as per the Minimum Mandatory Qualifications (MMQ)
    • 5-7 years’ experience in the community services sector, with experience in the family violence sector, that includes managing complex case management workloads
    • Knowledge of key legislative and policy frameworks and practice relevant to family violence.
    • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Current Working with Children’s check
    • Valid Police check (and international police check if lived overseas for a year or more in the last 10 years)
  • Desirable
    • Possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role
    • Displays ethical and authentic leadership style
    • Demonstrated experience working within a crisis or refuge environment including effective collaboration across programs..
