Description

We’re looking for a Retail Operations & Training Coach to support our franchise and corporate store network. This is a hybrid role that combines hands-on, in-store coaching with structured classroom-based training.

You’ll work closely with store teams to lift performance, embed operational standards, and support new store openings, while also delivering engaging training sessions and programs. This role requires someone who is just as comfortable working on the floor during busy service periods as they are facilitating structured training.

About the Role

Reporting to the Training Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence across the network by translating in-store practices into clear, structured training content.

You’ll be responsible not only for coaching teams but also for developing and refining training materials, SOPs, and operational resources to ensure consistency across all locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on operational coaching and support to franchise and corporate store teams
  • Deliver structured training sessions and performance improvement initiatives
  • Support new store openings and on-the-ground training
  • Develop, write, and refine SOPs, guides, and operational tools
  • Translate real in-store practices into practical, easy-to-follow training materials
  • Support the rollout of new initiatives through structured training content
  • Continuously review and improve training resources based on feedback

About You

  • Strong experience in food retail or hospitality operations, ideally across multiple sites
  • Comfortable working in-store during busy service periods
  • Proven experience coaching and developing teams
  • Demonstrated experience creating training materials, SOPs, or operational documentation
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex processes
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent (essential)

Important Note

This role requires both hands-on operational coaching and the ability to develop structured training content. Candidates without experience in creating training materials or documentation may not be suitable.

Company Overview

Fresh, artisanal, delicious. The Gelatissimo story began in 2002 where our first store opened in the heart of Sydney. Churning gelato in store, using secret traditional Calabrian family recipes, the word of mouth spread and before long, there were queues out the door and new store openings followed. In our 23rd year in business, we are operating in several key international markets outside of Australia, with growth plans for many more locations across the globe.
