About the Role:
• We are seeking a Financial Accountant with a strong background in professional services (e.g., Big 4 or mid-tier firm) to join our growing finance team. This role will be responsible for supporting month-end close, statutory reporting, audit processes and tax compliance. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement of financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Month-End & Reporting
• Prepare month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications.
• Perform GL reconciliations and variance analyses.
• Support preparation of monthly management reporting and analysis for leadership.
Financial Statements & Audit
• Prepare annual General Purpose Financial Statements (GPFS) in accordance with AASB/IFRS.
• Coordinate year-end statutory audit with external auditors, ensuring timely completion and clean audit outcomes.
• Maintain supporting documentation and schedules for all balance sheet items.
Tax & Compliance
• Prepare BAS, FBT, and payroll tax returns in a timely and accurate manner.
• Support annual income tax return preparation and liaise with external tax advisors.
Process Improvement & Controls
• Assist in streamlining finance processes and strengthening internal controls.
• Support ERP integration and data reconciliation between systems.
• Contribute to documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
Preferred competencies:
• Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.
• Working towards CA/CPA.
• 2–5 years of experience in business services at a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm.
• Strong knowledge of AASB/IFRS, taxation, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Hands-on experience with BAS, FBT, and income tax return preparation.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Pentana).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
