Description

Lead the energy. Shape the experience. Make a real impact outdoors.

Are you a natural leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment? Do you love working with people, solving problems on the fly and creating unforgettable experiences for young people? This could be your next adventure.

Set in the majestic hills of South Gippsland, Camp Rumbug stretches across 200 acres of stunning temperate rainforest. Just two hours from Melbourne’s CBD and overlooking Wilsons Promontory National Park, camp feels a world away from everyday life.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Centre Manager to support the day‑to‑day leadership and operations of our centre, helping deliver safe, fun and high‑quality outdoor education experiences.

About the role

Working closely with the Centre Manager, you’ll be right at the heart of the action — leading activity instructors, supporting operational teams and making sure every guest experience runs smoothly from arrival to departure.

You’ll be a visible, energetic presence around the centre, mentoring staff, engaging with visiting teachers and stepping in to solve challenges as they arise. No two days look the same, and that’s exactly why this role is so rewarding.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading, mentoring and developing Activity Instructors
  • Supporting training, performance and staff progression
  • Helping deliver safe, fun and engaging programs
  • Being a key contact for teachers and group leaders onsite
  • Supporting daily operations including kitchen, cleaning and maintenance teams
  • Assisting with rostering, resourcing, safety and compliance
  • Jumping in to solve problems, support staff and keep everything moving

What we’re looking for

You’ll shine in this role if you:

  • Have experience leading or supervising teams (outdoor education or camps is a big plus)
  • Are organised, proactive and calm under pressure
  • Love working with people and building positive team culture
  • Bring strong communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Are passionate about safety, quality and great guest experiences

Requirements

  • Full working rights in Australia
  • Current (or willingness to obtain) Working With Children Check
  • First Aid & Bronze Medallion (or willingness to gain)
  • Flexibility to work variable hours, including peak periods

Our Commitment to Child Safety

The Great Aussie Bush Camp is committed to ensure that every child and young person has the right to be safe and protected. We require all applicants who volunteer or work at The Great Aussie Bush Camp to undergo a screening process prior to appointment, a process that includes, but is not limited to, reference checks and a working with children check.

If you’re ready to lead from the front, support an amazing team and help create life‑changing outdoor experiences — we’d love to hear from you.
