🌱 Assistant Director – Froebel Parkville
- Full-time (5 days; 37.5 hrs/week)
- Work days: Monday to Friday
- Start date: March, 2026
We’re here to reimagine early childhood education, and we want you to be part of it. At Froebel, we believe every child deserves an empowered childhood — one that nurtures their curiosity, capability, compassion, and confidence to contribute meaningfully to the world.
The Professor Lynn Corcoran Early Learning Centre: Froebel Parkville is one of five early learning services run by the not-for-profit provider Froebel Australia. The centre has 100 places for children from 6 months to 5 years of age and is located at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) in the Parkville biomedical precinct. Our program is shaped by immersive language learning (with a second language focus on German), inquiry-based learning through our Little Scientists program, and frequent incursions and excursions that connect us with our local community.
This role is a blend of leadership and practice: 2 days off floor (15 hours) and 3 days on the floor, included in ratio, giving you the perfect balance of mentoring, planning, and hands-on engagement.
We offer:
- 💸 A salary well above award rates
- 🎄 Additional paid leave over Christmas/New Year
- 🎓 Generous professional development opportunities, including Froebel’s Future Leaders Program
- 🧠 Weekly planning time + paid team meetings + paid overtime
- 💬 Mentoring from an experienced Centre Director and Operations Manager
- 🌿 A long-standing team where people support each other, show up with purpose, and love what they do
- 🌟 Regular wellbeing initiatives + access to confidential counselling (EAP)
- 💡 Reduced childcare fees (subject to availability)
- 🛍️ Employee perks program with cashback, discounts & offers
- 🚉 Close to public transport (please note: no on-site parking at Froebel Parkville)

- Someone with leadership and mentoring skills, excellent communication, and the ability to build trusting relationships
- A team player with energy, initiative, and emotional maturity
- An educator excited by immersive language learning and inquiry-based STEM
- A strong understanding of and commitment to child safety and ethical practice
- And above all, someone with warmth, positivity, and a heart for children
