Flintwood Disability Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to provide exceptional care and support to individuals living in our residential facilities. As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in promoting independence, well-being, and a safe living environment for our Participants. This position requires excellent communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.
Responsibilities
- Provide personalized care and support to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and household chores
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment by promoting social interaction, organising recreational activities, and encouraging residents’ participation
- Monitor and document residents’ progress, behaviours, and any significant changes, promptly reporting to the appropriate personnel
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and external agencies to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Offer emotional support and crisis intervention when necessary, demonstrating empathy and understanding
- Attend training sessions and stay updated on best practices in residential care
Qualifications
- Certificate III or equivalent
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a residential care setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, families, and colleagues
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, ensuring efficient completion of tasks
- Ability to handle challenging situations with patience, empathy, and professionalism
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations governing residential care
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
