Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and detail-driven Executive Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping department and uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest comfort across the resort. This senior leadership role requires living on Fitzroy Island and is responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations, team performance, quality assurance, and departmental administration.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong operational background in hotel or resort environments. You will play a critical role in maintaining our reputation for excellence by ensuring every guest room and public space reflects the pristine beauty and high standards of Fitzroy Island Resort. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all daily housekeeping operations across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the housekeeping leadership team, including supervisors and attendants.
- Ensure consistent delivery of resort cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation standards.
- Conduct routine inspections and implement robust quality control processes.
- Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs, checklists, and departmental policies.
- Prepare rosters and manage labour costs in line with operational requirements and budgets.
- Manage departmental budgets, inventory control, purchasing, and stock management.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee chemical handling procedures and equipment maintenance.
- Coordinate with Maintenance and Front Office teams to ensure efficient room turnaround and prompt resolution of issues.
- Manage guest feedback, complaints, and special requests professionally and efficiently.
- Conduct recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.
- Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the department.
- Prepare reports and provide operational updates to senior management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a senior housekeeping leadership role (Executive Housekeeper or Assistant Executive Housekeeper), preferably within a resort or hotel environment.
- Proven experience managing large teams and departmental budgets.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Solid understanding of workplace health & safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Experience with rostering, inventory systems, and housekeeping management software (preferred).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative leadership style.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
