Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Client Support Officer – DV Specialist to join our team in Townsville, Queensland. This permanent, full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to support clients from a strengths-based approach, navigate legal systems and structures, especially family law, domestic violence and child protection.

Who we are

First Nations Women’s Legal is a vibrant community legal centre that is grounded in culture. Our community-controlled Management Committee drives our strategic direction. Additionally, more than 50% of our staff team are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander women and our combined lived expertise informs our service delivery.

We are a not-for-profit NGO funded by State and Commonwealth governments as part of the National Access to Justice Partnership. Our priority is to enhance access to justice for First Nations women and to promote change within the justice system in the areas of family law, domestic violence, child protection and other civil areas of law.

Who you are

·Relevant qualifications or at least 5 years relevant experience in domestic violence work

·Hold a current, unrestricted Queensland Driver Licence

·Hold a current Blue Card (working with children check) or be eligible to obtain the same

 

Knowledge, Skills & Expertise

· Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women preferred

· Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the capacity to demonstrate

cultural capability

· Highly developed organisational skills

· Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and to work independently

· Quality understanding of support services and networks across Queensland, particularly in service

delivery and outreach locations (including rural, regional, remote and very remote communities)

· Demonstrated ability in the use of current computer technology
