About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and analytical Merchant Risk Specialist to drive Fat Zebra merchant onboarding, operations, reporting and other risk related activities. You will play an active role in continuously improving risk processes, technology solutions and collaboration between Fat Zebra risk team, card networks, acquiring partners and merchants. In addition, some of your other responsibilities will include
- Collaborate seamlessly with credit risk underwriting in higher-risk applications
- Ensure Fat Zebra AML/CTF obligations are met with high standards and assist in audits (internal and external)
- Work with Fat Zebra acquiring partners to optimize onboarding and merchant management processes
- Drive preparation of regulatory and industry reporting (RBA, AUSTRAC, ATO etc.)
- Work with internal departments (finance, operations, engineering etc.) in reconciling merchant data related to invoicing, billing, white labelled services and features and functionalities
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to enhance and automate partner and merchant onboarding processes
- Perform risk-related duties, including (but not limited to) merchant account verification and updates, transaction limit adjustments, entity changes, reverifications, and transaction monitoring
About you
Your a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills and given your experience thus far, will enable you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them.In addition, you’ll have;
- 5+ years of experience in card/acquiring risk
- Knowledge of Australian and New Zeeland payments risk landscape
- Strong knowledge of card payment processing and/or A2A payments, including dispute and chargeback typologies
- Experience defining and refining best practice merchant onboarding processes
- Familiarity with credit reference alerts, persistent monitoring tools and scheme regulations
- Exposure to AML obligations and reporting requirements specific to real-time payment networks (e.g. NPP)
- Skilled in analyzing large data sets and performing reconciliations and reporting
- Clear communicator with experience in reporting to senior internal stakeholders, schemes, regulators and industry bodies
- Demonstrated ability to test and create risk controls
