Description

At EDA, our purpose is to protect the lifestyle of the outdoor adventurer.

Not only do we own and represent some of Australia’s most recognisable niche brands in the consumer insurance market, we’re passionate advocates for people to live their best life – and that includes our employees.

As a Capability & Learning Design Lead, you will translate business needs into practical, structured learning solutions that build capability across the organisation.

You will partner closely with leaders and subject matter experts to understand performance gaps and design fit-for-purpose learning experiences. These may be delivered by facilitators, leaders or through self-guided formats.

This role combines instructional thinking with real-world application – creating high-quality materials such as facilitator guides, learning pathways and presentations that enable consistent, effective delivery across the business.

As a Learning & Capability Design Lead, you will:

  • Partner with stakeholders to diagnose capability needs, translate business problems, and challenge assumptions to shape effective learning solutions
  • Design structured, practical learning experiences that support both technical capability and behavioural skill development
  • Develop high-quality facilitator guides, learner materials and supporting resources to enable consistent and effective delivery
  • Create engaging learning assets, including presentations, activities, job aids and assessments, that support application in the workplace
  • Ensure all solutions are designed using adult learning principles, with a focus on relevance, engagement and practical application
  • Build learning pathways that support end-to-end capability development, including onboarding, upskilling and continuous improvement
  • Identify when capability gaps can be addressed through non-training solutions (e.g. tools, process changes, job aids) and incorporate these into recommended approaches
  • Partner with facilitators and leaders to ensure solutions are easy to deliver, scalable, fit-for-purpose and can be reinforced/embedded.
  • Support the design of project-based and change-related training, including new systems, processes and business initiatives
  • Work closely with compliance stakeholders to ensure regulatory and mandatory training requirements are effectively translated into engaging, accessible learning solutions
  • Assess and recommend build vs buy decisions, considering quality, scalability, cost and speed to delivery
  • Continuously review and refine learning materials based on feedback, performance outcomes and business priorities
  • Maintain consistency in design standards, structure and learning frameworks across all capability initiatives
  • Define and measure learning effectiveness, using feedback, performance data and business outcomes to continuously improve solutions

What you’ll bring to the role?

  • Certificate IV in training and assessment, or equivalent (desired)
  • Proven experience in an instructional design, capability or learning role within an operational environment (e.g. contact centre, insurance, financial services or similar)
  • Experience in learning design, capability development or instructional design, ideally within an operational business environment
  • Strong ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, structured and practical learning solutions
  • Demonstrated experience creating learning aids across and highly engaging learning assets
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to consult, challenge and influence to achieve the right outcomes
  • Comfortable identifying when to build internally vs source externally, and managing those relationships where required
  • High attention to detail, with strong organisation and documentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly PowerPoint) and general digital tool
