About the Position

We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team in either our Birtinya office in the Sunshine Coast, or our Albion office in Brisbane. 

Reporting to the Managed Services Team Lead, the successful person will play an integral role supporting our managed customers, providing advanced technical support for complex network and firewall incidents, with an emphasis on FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and secure WAN / SD‑WAN environments. 

In addition, you will provide escalation support and mentoring to our Level 1 and 2 team members and contribute to the development of internal processes, change management and customer reporting. 

We’re looking for someone with a strong customer mindset, clear and confident communication skills who genuinely enjoys their work and brings that energy to the team – instinctively understands what’s urgent vs important and can independently manage their time and prioritise work  

In this role you will:

• Act as the Level 3 escalation point within the Managed Services Team for complex network, firewall and connectivity incidents, with a primary focus on Fortinet technologies.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation of customer environments, internal process and procedures.

• Write, review, and implement change request and test plans to facilitate major changes within customer environments.

• Drive process improvement and automation opportunities, enhancing the proactive services and outcomes Entag deliver to our customers.

• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of customer reporting.

 

About You:

You will have:

• Demonstrated experience in a Level 3 role within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or Telco.

• Strong, hands-on expertise with Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate firewalls (essential).

• Experience working in multi-vendor network environments (e.g. Fortinet, Cisco, Meraki).

• Solid understanding of network security principles, WAN technologies, VPNs and SD‑WAN architectures.

• Proficient in the use of managed monitoring platforms to track network uptime, availability, and performance across LAN, WAN, firewall, and SD‑WAN services, ensuring that monitoring coverage aligns with managed service scope and SLA commitments.

• Ability to interpret CVE’s and assess the impact they may present to customer environments.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues across layered network environments (essential).

• Strong experience in Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Entra ID/Conditional Access, Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure VM, storage (highly regarded).

• Excellent organisational and time management skills with an ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging customers and internal stakeholders.

• Mature change management and governance experience.

• Respect for ITSM processes (categorisation, notes, escalation criteria etc).

• Proven experience creating and presenting technical reports to customers (highly regarded).

• Network certifications such as Fortinet NSE 4 / FCP / or higher, Cisco CCNA, CCNP (highly regarded).
