Westug Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Engage Marine, provides marine support services in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. 

Engage Marine is an Australian port operations provider delivering specialised marine services to a range of industries. Headquartered in Perth, the company operates nationally with operational bases including Sydney, Geelong, Port Latta, Whyalla, Carnarvon and Far North Queensland. 

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our shore-side maintenance team at our Cape Lambert operations in the Pilbara.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be a member of the shore-based maintenance team and responsible for mechanical servicing, fault finding and repair on-board our tug and small craft fleet within our marine operations in the Pilbara.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adherence to safety standards and contributing to positive safe behaviours within the team.
  • Comply with all isolation, permit and Critical Risk Management requirements under Westug and Rio Tinto standards.
  • Ensure maintenance records and reports are accurately entered into the CMMS.
  • Take ownership of preparing for work tasks by ensuring parts and stock are ordered and the relevant safety systems are utilised.
  • Ensure mechanical maintenance of our tug and small craft fleet is completed on time and to a professional standard.
  • Maintain, repair and fault-finding of vessel systems and components including power plants, cooling systems, gearing, hydraulics, pneumatics and lubrication.
  • Identify reliability issues and help implement improvements.
  • General housekeeping duties.

Skills & Experience

  • Trade Certificate in Heavy Diesel, Mobile Plant or Mechanical Fitting essential.
  • Proven experience in the diagnosis and repair of engine/ power train and hydraulic systems
  • Previous experience in Marine/ Ship repair highly regarded.
  • Ability to work proactively and collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • WA Manual C Class Driver’s Licence (essential), HR licence (desirable).
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Ability to obtain or provide a National Police Clearance or MSIC.
  • Rigging, Forklift, Working at Heights HRWL are desirable.
