VictimConnect is a 24/7 phone-base service that supports people who have been impacted by a violent crime in Queensland.

About the role

The Response and Connection Practitioner role acts as the key point of contact for callers seeking specialist support, information, and guidance. Response and Connection Practitioners deliver immediate trauma-informed support in the form of answering or triaging inbound calls with compassion, providing psychological first aid and emotional support through traditional CBT interventions such as mindfulness and grounding techniques for callers presenting in acute distress, undertaking risk and needs assessments, safety planning and guiding service users through appropriate referral pathways.

  • Opportunity 1: Part time, fixed term contract until 01.12.2026
  • Opportunity 2: Casual contract
  • In-office (Brisbane City, QLD)
  • SCHADS Award 4 – 5 + applicable loading + super. NFP salary packaging available.

Availability to work: To be considered for either opportunity, you must be available/flexible to work across a 24/7 roster.

Role requirements

  • Completed bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Counselling, Psychology.
  • More than two years’ experience working in a similar role. Experience in intake, triage, or supporting high-risk clients is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrate understanding of practice frameworks used to respond to victims of interpersonal trauma.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing supportive and culturally safe responses for diverse communities, including First Nations peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, individuals with disabilities, and LGBTQI+ communities.
  • Confident computer and telephone multitasking skills, with the ability to type case notes during calls and maintain accurate databases. Strong computer literacy and a moderate to fast typing speed are essential.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle high-stress situations calmly and effectively.
  • Proven experience working with and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, including both sector and non-sector partners.
  • Flexibility to work across 24/7 roster.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Hold a valid (P) BlueCard and photo ID.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Queensland Domestic Violence Legislation and Queensland criminal justice legislation, including victim of crime and child protection is desirable.

**Availability and commitment to complete onboarding training required**

Remuneration

  • SCHADS Award Level 4 – 5 (Award level and pay point is dependent on qualifications and level of relevant experience).
  • Shift loading (afternoons, evenings, weekends and public holidays).
