Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our team and take ownership of our enterprise technology platform. Working in a hybrid environment, you will manage and evolve our Red Hat Linux and VMware virtualisation infrastructure, supported by a robust enterprise network.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who thrives in complex environments, takes pride in platform reliability, and can translate technical challenges into practical outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deploy, configure, and manage VMware vSphere / ESXi environments including vCenter, vSAN, and distributed virtual switches
  • Perform VM lifecycle management — provisioning, migration (vMotion), cloning, resource allocation, and decommissioning
  • Monitor hypervisor performance and capacity; identify and resolve bottlenecks before they impact services
  • Maintain high availability and disaster recovery configurations within the VMware platform
  • Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers — installation, patching, hardening, and troubleshooting
  • Manage system services, storage (LVM, NFS, iSCSI), and user access controls across Linux environments
  • Automate routine tasks using Bash scripting and Ansible / Red Hat Automation Platform
  • Ensure systems meet security baselines and lead remediation of identified vulnerabilities
  • Configure and manage enterprise network components including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers
  • Administer VLANs, subnetting, routing, and network segmentation across physical and virtual layers
  • Manage virtual networking within VMware (vSwitches, distributed port groups, NSX where applicable)
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and resolve incidents across the full infrastructure stack
  • Respond to monitoring alerts, manage incidents, and contribute to root-cause analysis and problem resolution
  • Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation and contribute to change management processes
  • Collaborate with application, security, and project teams to plan and deliver infrastructure changes
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide out-of-hours support as required

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in an infrastructure or systems engineering role
  • Strong VMware vSphere / ESXi / vCenter administration — practical, production-level experience
  • Proficient in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) — management, scripting, and troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of enterprise networking — TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, DNS, DHCP
  • Experience with storage technologies — SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS, LVM
  • Ability to automate tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible
  • Familiarity with ITSM processes — incident, change, and problem management
  • Strong diagnostic skills and a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Clear communicator — able to document and explain technical work to varied audiences
