F5 DNS Engineer

We are seeking an experienced F5 DNS Engineer to support a large-scale telecommunications network environment in Sydney. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available DNS and traffic management solutions using F5 BIG-IP platforms, ensuring optimal performance, resilience, and scalability of critical network services in a fast-paced, carrier-grade environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage F5 BIG-IP DNS (GTM) and LTM solutions
• Maintain and optimise DNS infrastructure, including zone management and resolution performance
• Implement traffic steering, load balancing, and failover strategies across distributed environments
• Provide L2/L3 support for DNS and network-related incidents, including troubleshooting complex issues
• Collaborate with network, security, and platform teams to integrate DNS with broader infrastructure
• Support high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery mechanisms
• Perform capacity planning and performance tuning for DNS platforms
• Develop automation scripts (Python, Ansible, etc.) to improve operational efficiency
• Participate in change management, deployments, and on-call support rotations

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP DNS (GTM) and LTM
• Solid understanding of DNS protocols, architecture, and troubleshooting
• Experience in telecommunications or large-scale enterprise environments
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, load balancing concepts)
• Experience working with Linux/Unix systems
• Exposure to automation tools such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform
• Familiarity with cloud-based DNS environments is a plus
• Knowledge of DNS security concepts is required
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, or Grafana is advantageous
